• The meeting was attended by 13 SPARC members (10 in-person, 3 via Zoom)
• Kevin W4KLS, led the meeting and reviewed the agenda for the evening
• Each member had an opportunity to introduce themselves and to discuss recent activities in Ham radio.
• Several members shared unique items both for sale and for informational purposes describing equipment, software, and personal radio portability solutions.
• Evan KM4SK is working with Mike Aimone WA8AHZ (ARRL area rep) to request a level of funding for the QSL Bureau to keep it solvent for the future. He is working with Jeff KB4IWD to summarize the financial requirements that Mike will present to the ARRL staff this month.
• The QSL Bureau is experiencing low volume of cards received and multiple months with no shipments. Sorted cards will be sent out soon to the various letter managers for distribution.
• There is a pressing need to find a new location for Field Day in 2027. Paul KK4AIA and Kevin W4KLS will approach the current Sheriff leadership to see if it is possible to continue with the Sheriffs Substation location without Paul having to sleep in the facility overnight during Field Day weekend. If this is not possible, we will need to locate a new location ASAP.
• Kevin W4KLS requested someone to lead the Wednesday Zoom meeting as Net Control on Wednesday, September 23.
• There was no “Get to Know a Member” presentation and no refreshments provided at this meeting. Gordon NQ4K, will provide refreshments and a Get to Know You Member Talk at the October meeting scheduled for October 7th.
• Annual club dues were discussed and a motion was made, seconded, and unanimously approved to raise the annual dues to $20.
• The position of President and Vice President remain open at this time. Some ideas to encourage new leadership were discussed but no action was taken.
• Presentations are scheduled for the October and November meetings. Anyone with ideas for presentations, topics, and/or build ideas for future meetings should contact Kevin W4KLS asap.
• Kevin W4KLS adjourned the meeting at 8:45 pm.
