SPARC Field Day Results

Here is a copy of the verification I received after submitting our info via the applet. Total score was 4156 QSO points plus 1690 bonus points for a total of 5846, subject to ARRL review. It's a bit of an increase from last year's 5554, due to increased QSOs (especially K7CS on CW, but a healthy increase in phone as well). That should put us well in the top 10 percent of logs for 3A, based on last year. Great job, every one!

Field Day is Over

Hi,

Field Day was a great success. We had superb participation and several visitors. The antennas worked very well as did all the radios (including the radio on 10M). I am not sure I can think of anything we can do better.

I especially remember that although it did not rain, we did get rained upon. The sprinklers in the field came on Sunday morning and would have sprayed everything if it was not for some quick thinking. (Upside down plastic containers over the sprinkler heads contained the spray)

Our quick count of QSOs indicated we did more than last year. Dick, W2YE, will assemble the final report. If you were responsible for bonus points, please email some details to him to include in the report to ARRL.

Several folks took pictures. I would appreciate an electronic copy. I will post to our web site within a few weeks.

SPARC: VQP Certificate Stuffing - Saturday, 9 Jun, at 0900

Hi,

There is one major task remaining before we can call the 2007 Virginia QSO Party over. That is mailing certificates to all
participants.

I believe we have about 330 certificates to mail. We had probably 380 to
start with and some were picked up at the Awards Ceremony.

For the remainder, we have to put each in an envelope and attach a
mailing label. Easy, but time consuming. With a couple of people
helping, this should not take more than 1-2 hours. Sometime later, I will take them to the post office, affix stamps, and mail them.

Please come and join me in a certificate stuffing party at my home on
Saturday, 9 Jun, at 0900.

SPARC Meeting: Wednesday, 6 Jun 07 at 7:30 PM

Hi,

It is time for the final SPARC meeting of the year. Hardly seems possible that another year has gone by.

I had a good month. Everything is ready for the VQP Awards Ceremony on Sunday. I picked up a Butternut Vertical that Don, K7CS, donated to a good cause (me. HI HI). Got on the air a couple of times. Good month.

The major activity for the meeting is finalizing plans for Field Day. We made some decisions at the last meeting and a revised plan is on our web site.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
