Excellent In-Person meeting. Fifteen attendees. All had fun.
The primary event was making collinear coax antennas. We had materials for three antennas.
Team Evan, with a newcomer, Russell Main, KC3VVN.
Team Charlie, with Joe, WB2SAI.
Team Larry, with Steve, KN4BGW
All finished. The antennas were designed for 146 MHz or so. Resonated at 440 MHa and 220 MHz. High impedance at 146.
Probably need an impedance transformation at the feedpoint, for us, the end of the cable.
Potential solutions include: a 50 ohm resister at the terminal end of the antenna. A 1/4 wavelength match section between the feed line and the antenna. larry said he would try something and see what happened.

Monthly Meeting, Wednesday, 5 April, at 7 PM
We will meet at the Sheriff Substation in Sterling for our Monthly In-Person meeting. Starts at 7 PM.
We need a volunteer fro refreshments.
Our activity for the meeting will be building a 2M collinear coax antenna. Below are a couple of links so you can read about them.

There are many articles about this type of antenna on the internet. Some have 1/4 wavelength sections on top, some on the bottom, some without any at all. We will try the latter.
I will bring coax. Probably enough for three antennas.
We need:
Soldering stations. At least three.
Wire cutters to cut and trim the coax.
Sharp knife to help trim the coax insulation.
Tape measure for measuring the length of the sections.
One or two antenna analyzers to check the results.
I will bring some cardboard to put under the soldering stations to prevent damage to the tables.
I will also bring some solder type PL-259 connectors to add to the antennas as time permits.
We have some other items to discuss as time permits.
Status of Virginia QSO Party.
Finding a location for Field Day.
