SPARC: Sterlingfest Plan - ITS OVER

Hi,

It was a good Sterlingfest.  At 1530, it started to rain a little heavier and we decided it was over.

We had several visitors in the morning and early afternoon.  Around 2 it seemed most people had come and gone.  Very few still walking around.

We had many SPARC people come out to visit us at the booth. I had a good time and I hope that others did also.

Paul,  I have your antenna, including the pipe, at my house.  I will be gone for a few days.  Will email when I get back.

Sterlingfest Plan - UPDATE

Hi,

It is 0820. It is raining very lightly.  With a light jacket and a hat and the canopy, I would be OK, especially if it does not rain harder.

Sterlingfest is ON for me.

Meeting on Wednesday, 5 October at 7PM

Hi,

Another month has gone by, the foxhunt has come and gone, and contesting
season is starting.

In addition, our October club meeting is this coming Wednesday, 5
October, at 7PM at the Sheriff's substation in Sterling.

Refreshments will be provided by Earl, KB0NRK, and Mary, KK4HMX.

Our Presentation this month is from Bud, W4KSN, on "New Facilities Build
NPR’s New Headquarters Project."  Bud is a longtime member of SPARC
although he does not participate in many meetings and many of you may
not have met him.  He is also deeply involved in technology and the
application of new technology at National Public Radio.  You can do an
internet search for him (try "Bud Aiello NPR") and find that the
internet has immortalized him.

We also have a few items of club business.

We can review our plan for Sterlingfest, which is this coming Saturday,
8 Oct.  Our Sterlingfest booth is always fun.

We can discuss SPARC participation in upcoming contests.  Several of our
members enjoying contesting and the contesting season is starting.  I
know that I enjoy participating in contests and consider that I have
done well if I get at least 10 percent of the QSOs completed by Dick, W2YE.

And finally we can have an initial discussion of 2017 VA QSO Party
rules.  Maybe Dick, W2YE, can recap any recommendations from last year.

See you at the meeting.

Foxhunt is over

Hi,

The foxhunt is over and it was fun.

Mark, KI4OBT, was out early setting up.  We had a canopy to protect us and Mark's radios from the light mist.

A total of 4 teams, a total of 10 people. participated.  This included a small group of boy scouts, all with handheld radios and at least one with an amateur radio license.

We had a winner, but we will leave that announcement for Mark.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable morning.

The monthly meeting is coming up on Wednesday and I hope to see you all there.
