Meeting Wednesday, 2 Jan 2013 at 7 PM

Hi,

the time has come for our January Monthly meeting.  Wednesday, 2 January 2013, at 7:00 PM.

I had a good month.  Unfortunately I did not do much on the radio. I worked a few contacts on the ARRL 10M contest and that is about all.

Refreshments will be provided by Red, N3TG.

We will have a "Show and Tell" so please bring something to talk about for a few minutes.

January is also our due collection month so please bring $10 and give to our treasurer.

We will review the status of any activities for the VA QSO Party.

Finally the most fun event which is a White Elephant Gift Exchange. Please bring a gift, preferably ham related, of nominal value (<$10).  I usually bring something laying around the ham shack which I no longer have a need. Otherwise something interesting.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_elephant_gift_exchange if you are unfamiliar with the game.

Jim, KF4PQL, emails that he and Joyce will be visiting with their Son and his family and will not be at the meeting. He conveys his New Year's Best Wishes to everyone!

See you at the meeting,

We reviewer the feedback we received for the VA QSO party, and discussion will continue at the November meeting.

We briefly discussed the possibility of hosting an exam session in February.

Meeting on Wednesday, 5 December 2012 at 7:00 PM

Hi,

It is time for the December SPARC Club meeting.  Wednesday, 5 Dec at 7.

The month has gone by very quickly.  I did not do much. Only worked the TARA RTTY contest for a few QSOs on 80M.  I also put up for sale an old Kenwood TM201A 2M transceiver (does not have CSTSS).

Refreshments for this month at by Kevin, W4KLS.

Kevin also volunteered to give a presentation on "Email over HF with RMS Express software."  Kevin really likes the digital modes and it sounds like he has found one.

We also have a few items of club business.

Bill, WF1L, can bring us up to data on the 8 December 2012, Special Event Station in the Caboose at the Annual Herndon Holiday Train Show.

And we can all talk about the VA QSO Party.  Every year we make an offer to give presentations to clubs in Virginia on the QSO Party.  Recently, Mark, KI4OBT and I give the presentations.  Is there anyone else in the club who would like to help with these?

See you at the meeting!

73, Gordon, NQ4K
