ARRL SweepStakes Phone

Hi,

This is the weekend of the ARRL SweepStakes Phone contest. It is one of the big ones that we, as a Club, try to participate in. Please take the opportunity this weekend to get on the air, at least for a few QSO's, and send in a log with Sterling Park ARC as your club.

See http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2007/novss.html for further information about the contest.

See you on the air!

Meeting Wednesday, 7 Nov 07 at 7:30 PM

Hi,

Another month has gone by and it is time for the next SPARC meeting.

I did exceptionally well this past month. I was at Sterlingfest along with many others. Really enjoyed helping put up the station. Worked a few contacts (well maybe just 1) and enjoyed the company. I also worked the CQ WW DX Contest SSB on 27-28 Oct. Did well for me. 60+ contacts on 15M. Had a good time. Given that Dick, W2YE, normally does at least 10 times what I do, then Dick should have 600 plus contacts. I will be interested in hearing who else participated. I even tried to work the ARRL Sweepstakes CW this weekend and was not able to get on the air. I tried to plug my key into the FT-847 and realized that I needs a three-conductor plug, not the two-conductor plug that I had. Oh, well.

Jim, AF4MO, has arranged for Dennis, W4PWF, to attend our meeting and talk about RFI/EMP. Dennis has joined up in the past and his presentations have always been interesting. In addition, I understand that Dennis is a real expert in RFI/EMP. It should be an interesting presentation.

We also will have our second review of the rules for the contest. Dick, W2YE, asked us all to provide some information on other state QSO parties and it will be interesting to hear the results. If you have not provided your input to Dick, please do, so the we can review the tabulated results. I did have one query from Hershel, W4TMN, asking if we considered splitting low and high power.

Finally, maybe Dick can talk a little about the upcoming contest. There are two big ones coming up over the next month.

See you at the meeting,

Field Day Results are out!

Hey Sparc-ers,

The league has posted the results for Field Day and we didn't do too badly.

We were in the top 10% overall based on score and we came in 2nd in out category (3A) to Fauquier County ARC in our section.

Not too shabby, guys!

Congrats all around,

Bill-WF1L
