Duane Durst, K4UW (SK)
It is with regret that I pass along that Duane Durst, K4UW, passed away yesterday, 27 Dec, at his QTH.
Duane was one of the first members of SPARC that I met when I joined the club. He always participated in SPARC events. He was always kind and helpful. He will be missed.
The funeral service will be at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon. I know of no further details at this time.

Wednesday 2M/Zoom Net - 21 December at 8 PM - SUMMARY
Hope everyone is staying warm and are where they need to be this Holiday weekend.
This past Wednesdays 2 meter/Zoom net we had to call an audible and shift to Zoom only due to technical difficulties beyond our control. (translation-Things happen)
We apologize for the to anyone that was waiting on 2 meters for the net.
On the Zoom side we had 5 check ins, a lively discussion and a few good jokes.

Monthly Meeting 7 Dec 22, at 7 PM - SUMMARY
Excellent meeting. 14 attendees. Daniel, W5DJV, has returned from St Louis and joined us for the first time after his return.
Ron, WA6YOU, gave a truly interesting presentation. He has operated from many countries, gotten licenses from many countries, made many contacts from those countries and has documented it all. He effectively has DXCC from many of those places. Most importantly, he has volunteered to come back and talk to us again in the future. I am looking forward to his return.
Charlie, K3SR, ran though his presentation loop that showed at the Ashby Ponds Radio Club. That club is off and running well.
In other news, Amit, WY2Z, and all, are still working on settling down the date for the next Tech Class and Examination Session. Originally scheduled for 14-15 Jan, we are now seeing if 21-22 will work.

Monthly Meeting 7 Dec 22, at 7 PM
It it time for our monthly meeting. Wednesday, 7 December, at 7 PM.
Refreshments are TBD. We need a volunteer to bring them.
Our club runs the ARRL 4th Call Area Incoming QSL Bureau. Several of our members are QSL Letter Mangers helping with this effort.
Closely aligned with this effort are those hams who collect QSL cards. Ron, WA6YOU, will be visiting us again and will talk about "The Art of Collection QSL Cards." It will be interesting to hear a different perspective on the QSL card activities. He is an entertaining speaker and I am looking forward to it.
We have a few items of club business.
The Virginia QSO Party is coming up on 18-19 March. Some club members have been actively preparing for this.
For our Tech Ten Talk, Charlie, K3SR, will show the presentation that was on a loop at the Ashby Ponds Radio Club Open House. It sounds like that event was successful.

We are having our last in-person monthly meeting on Wednesday, 7 Dec 2022.
Ron, WA6YOU, will be visiting us again and will talk about "The Art of collection QSL Cards." He is an entertaining speaker and I am looking forward to it.
In addition, Charlie, K3SR, will close the meeting by showing the presentation that was on a loop at the Ashby Ponds Radio Club Open House.
