Meeting, Wednesday, 2 May, at 7:00 PM

Hi,

It is time for the May monthly meeting again. This one really came fast.

I had an exciting time this past month. We held the VQP scoring Party at my QTH with Red, N3TG, Don, K7CS, Jim, JF4PQL, Dick, W2YE, and Ray, KD4RSL re-scoring the paper logs. The resulting scores were combined with the results of the electronic log re-scoring (by Bill, KJ4VTH, and Henry, K2BFY) and posted to our web site. I helped with the General license class with Paul, KK4AIA, Jim, KF4PQL, Mark, KI4OBT, Kevin W4KLS, as teachers. Finally, I helped Red, N3TG, the coordinator, with the license examination session along with VEs Duane, K4UW, and Charlie, K3SR, and with Bill, KJ4VTH, and Jim, KF4PQL, helping. All together a busy month.

This month refreshments will be by Bill, WF1L.

We will have two presentations, both which support improving our field day operation.

First, Don, K7CS, will show a presentation on PVRC Field Day Operation.

Then Ray, KD4RSL, will present an Analysis of our last year's Field Day Results.

Finally we have some club business.

We will discuss our upcoming Field Day.

We will discuss our support for Herndon Fest and Race.

And we will ask for nomination for club officers for next year.

See you at the meeting.

VQP Log Scoring Party 21 Apr at 0800

Hi,

The Virginia QSO Party is over. Logs are due to us by 15 April. Bill, KJ4VTH, has been scoring the logs submitted electronically with the software developed by Henry, K2BFY, as they come in. We have about 280 electronic logs so far. Dick, W2YE, has been picking up the mailed paper logs up at the Post Office.

The Log Scoring Party will be at my QTH on Saturday, 21 Apr, at 0800. This will take about 2-3 hours. We will have coffee, tea, and sodas available. Maybe some pastries also.

For those who have not done this previously, checking paper logs is easy and we will teach you how in about 1 minute.

No need to RSVP, just come on over and enjoy.

See you there!

April Meeting - 4 Apr at 7:00 PM

Hi,

It is time for the April meeting.

The month has gone by very quickly. I worked in the Virginia QSO Party both at home QTH and at the QTH of Dick, W2YE. We have gotten a lot of nice comments about the contest. Bill, KJ4VTH, has been working on the submitted electronic logs with help from Henry, K2BFY, and his scoring program. Over 200 logs so far and still counting. Please make 21 April for the VQP paper scoring party at the QTH of Gordon, NQ4K.

We will not be having our regular meeting this month. We are hosting SKYWARN training session which will take the entire meeting time. Paul, K4PDF, has been coordinating attendance and reports that right now it is full (actually over booked a little). I hope that you have all coordinated with Paul to reserve a seat.

We have some other activities and coordination to do, however we will not have time at the April meeting. Email will be the best approach.

We have the general license class and examination session coming up on 28-29 April. We still need some instructors. We will send out a separate email soliciting additional help.

We also are approaching the end of the SPARC year and this means nomination of officers for next year. I now the current President is looking for a replacement and anyone who is interested should step forward.

We also have a few event coming up a little later in the year. These are:

2 June: Herndon Festival
3 June: Herndon Races (with SPARC communications support).

10 June: Manassas Hamfest with Virginal QSO Party Awards Ceremony.

23-24 June: ARRL Field Day.

See you at the meeting.
