Hi Gordon,
STERLING FEST was a good event.  We had many people stop-by to chat.
Several inactive hams in the area visited our tent.
I will copy the photos from the camera & cell phone to the computer today
and email them to you.  I missed several great photos which I wish I
could have
taken.

We had an excellent conversation with Scott York, Chairman of the
Loudoun County Supervisor’s.
Discussions included antennas, the positive side of being a ham, etc.
Paul, K4PDF, and I decided we need a brochure for our next event. Three
visitors asked us for SPARC’s
web site address and time/location of our meetings.  None of us
remembered SPARC’s correct web site
address.
I can return the items you loaned to us for the event at any time its
convenient to you.
You would have enjoyed the event.

Sterlingfest Booth Manning - Announcement to Club

Hi SPARCies,

Sterlingfest is this weekend on Saturday, 10 October.

We have at one person identified to man the SPARC booth at Sterlingfest all day.  However this is a very minimal staffing and does not allow for much activity.

Please make an effort to stop by and help out as you can.  This booth in the past has been fun.  A lot of people often stop by to chat, including old hams, people looking to get involved in ham radio, and just people who want wonder what we do.  We are there to help spread the work about amateur radio and enjoy ourselves.

Hi,

I believe we have the booth for Sterlingfest manned for this coming
Saturday, 10 Oct.

Duane, K4UW, will bring the equipment with the exception of the
buddipole which will be provided by Paul, K4PDF.
   Setup at 0900
   Takedown at 1700

In addition, I understand that booth manning is:

  0900 - 1000 Setup  Paul Fischer, K4PDF

  0900 - 1200 John Lagozzino, KK4AHY

  1200 - 1400 Henry Weidman, K2BFY

  1400 - 1700 Shiva Nama, KM4NPL

I hope all can make it.  IF you cannot please let all on this mailing
list know.

The weather looks to be great.  Hope you will have fun.

Please remember to take pictures.

Meeting Wednesday, 7 October, at 7PM

Hi,

Another month has gone by and it is time for our October club meeting.
  7 October 2015 - Wednesday, at 7PM

Refreshments will be by Gordon, NQ4K.

This should be a very interesting meeting.

Marty, NV3H, has been helping line up speakers for our meeting and has arranged for Paul Bock, K4MSG, to discusses "Beginner's Guide to Small-station EME."  Paul's thesis is that small station operators can now do EME and I am looking forward to seeing how this might be done.

We will then do our introductions and talk about our activities over the past month.

I will be bringing in some miscellaneous radio stuff for sale.  Mostly old cables with a few other odds and ends, including a couple of old Bearcat scanners.

Sterlingfest is coming up next weekend on Saturday, 10 October.  We still need volunteers to help man our booth.  If you are interested, now is the time to let us know.

We can also continue our discussion of Virginia QSO Party rules if anyone has additional suggestions.

The foxhunt at the end of September was fun but turnout was extremely low.  The weather was great.  Mark, KI4OBT, Duane, K4UW, and Dick, KE4RLA, took their time and effort to put on the event, but it was not well attended.  Only 13 people showed up.  We are interested in comments on the low participation and whether we should do this again next year.

See you at the meeting.
