News from the Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club (SPARC)

It is time for a new SPARC year to start. The summer has passed by fast.

The first meeting of the year is on Wednesday, 7 September, at 7 PM at the Claude Moore Community Center.

As we have done for the past several years, the first meeting allows us to renew friendships and is a "Show and Tell." Please bring a ham-related item and tell us about it. This can be something new or something old. We will enjoy the conversation.

Refreshments will be provided by Kevin, W4KLS.

We also have a few items of club business.

We will discuss the Sterlingfest Special Event Station. Sterlingfest is on 8 Oct.

We can discuss the 2011-2012 Activity Calendar. Last year we added a technician licensing class to our calendar. A few people have mentioned adding a general class licensing class and examination. If the club supports this, we can discuss the scheduling of both classes.

Finally, our club meeting dates are up for discussion. The Claude Moore Community Center has asked us to change our meeting dates so the Center does not have stay open exclusively for us on the current Wednesday night. They would like to close at 8 PM vice the 9 PM when we have our meetings. They offer to stay open the 3rd Friday of each month and they are open on Saturdays from 9 AM until 2 PM. Alternatively, maybe there are other facilities in the area which we could use. I promised we would resolve the meeting time at our September meeting.
